Low XP
At least one of the pets for this strategy require the use of a specific breed.
RNG
Not every strategy can be bullet proof. This is one of them. You might have to restart it, since there are some random elements that increase the risk of your pets failing. Don't blame them, please!
This strategy is using pets obtainable from the Wow Trading Card Game (TCG) or the auction house for potentially high sums of gold.
This strategy is using pets obtainable only from the WoW In-Game Shop for Battle.net Balance or real money.
You can use this strategy to carry a low level pet to give it experience.
Some instructions are more difficult to follow than others. That's exactly what you might find in this strategy!
Script
The strategy offers a Script that can be used with the Pet Battle Script addon. You can copy the script by clicking on the button to the left of the pets.
At least one pet in the strategy cannot be obtained anymore. If you have it, congrats!
A Strategy Curator found this strategy to be especially helpful and higlighted it with this tag to give it more exposure.
In Dragonflight Patch 10.2, the ability Time Bomb has been changed. This tag is marking strategies using Time Bomb so they can be reviewed.

Looks like the TD Script is still wrong.

Kaerei

wrote on 2020-06-18 22:56:01

Every time that I copy/paste the TDscript, I get:

ability(Poison Spit:380) [ round=1 ]
ability(Acidic Goo:369)
ability(Rampage:124)
ability(Bite:110)
change(#2)

Which...is not the correct script.

Ankhti wrote on 2018-01-29 04:25:26

I tried this fight today. Won with Chidsuey's strat, found on Wowhead's comments.

Core Hound Pup - 2 1 2
Tiny Bog Beast - X X 2
Crimson Geode - 1 1 X (H/H Breed for extra assurance)

Start with Core Hound Pup
Turn 1 - Burrow
Turn 2 - Burrow goes off
Turn 3 - Howl
Turn 4 - Switch to Tiny Bog Beast
Turn 5 - Rampage
Turn 6/7 - Rampage continues. Dies. (RNG will determine which turn).
Take out Core Hound Pup - NOTE: This is where the RNG comes in. If Foulclaw does two triple attacks, you'll have to start over.
Turn 8 - Thrash
Turn 9 - Howl
Turn 10 - Burrow
Turn 11 - Burrow goes off
Turn 12 - Dies
Take out Crimson Geode
Turn 13 - Crystal Overload
Turn 14 - Feedback
Victory!

By the way, my crimson geode was H/P breed, and i didn't even have to use it. The Core Hound Pup, and Tiny Bog Beast made the job very well.

THANK YOU CHIDSUEY

Dougula#1873

wrote on 2018-02-07 20:25:27

This worked well. Was able to finish w/just the Core Hound Pup and Bog Beast, didn't even need the Geode.

TimboAZ

wrote on 2018-02-13 18:15:06

Tried this 10 times today, couldn't get it to work with H/P Tiny Bog Beast. Died every time without getting an attack in.

Drakuul

wrote on 2018-03-10 14:15:47

Same here if he gets n 1 triple attack you get wrecked and his triple attack is bugged he can be dead and still kill you

Khes

wrote on 2018-04-13 11:12:31

burrow double crit and so did rampage, wtf. didn't even need crimson geode. great simple strat

Dende

wrote on 2020-08-31 14:59:02

I took Ashstone Core because I don't have the geode, but my core hound pup killed him with the burrow xD

So I didnt have Soul of Forge leveled up, I put in Dark Phoenix Hatchling 2*2. followed above till pup died and phoenix came in then did laser, laser, dark rebirth, laser, win :) Hope this helps someone.

wrote on 2019-04-21 22:44:44

OMG, thank you so much for posting this! It finally worked! Had to only restart once and then I got the burrow in and it was home free from there. Been tryng for an hour! Thank you.

Lucavi wrote on 2019-07-07 02:47:11

Did not work for me. Dark Rebirth buff was up, Dark Phoenix got killed, fight immediately ended without the ability triggering. Hard to beat the computer when it cheats.

solitha wrote on 2018-02-05 07:48:24

Someone posted this strat is no longer viable. It is; it worked for me. However, the Rematch string doesn't work.

Ruta wrote on 2018-02-08 06:54:22

Reforge takes a round too long and Foulclaw uses Crouch again putting up his shield. The Stout Elemental must die in Round 4 for this to work.

Sianca wrote on 2018-06-16 14:54:59

It still works, I just beat it today (6/16/18).

Katycakes

wrote on 2018-06-24 15:05:45

I'm using an H/P Core Hound and he always dies before I can cast burrow.

Eekwibble

wrote on 2018-06-25 00:15:22

Pup only has the one breed. The strat has a very high RNG failure rate, you need a lot of patience (and bandages) to get it done.

spearmoore wrote on 2018-11-24 20:52:45

did today, first try..went fine, my soul was only level 22...all of these only have 1 breed, I had no problem was a world quest and lots of players

Geschreibsel wrote on 2017-10-31 23:13:41

For those still struggling to find a working strategy which doesn't involve shop pets and/or the Core Hound Pup I found this one on Wowhead. All glory goes to "wowZhenek" who managed to find a strategy which also doesn't rely on specific breeds:

Ominous Flame 222
Molten Corgi 111
Soul of the Forge 212

OF: Curse -> Scorch -> Bolt -> Curse til Ominous Flame dies
Foulclaw's shield must have worn off at this point, otherwise restart
MC: Superbark -> Bark -> keep Barking til Foulclaw's Shield is off CD -> Puppies -> Superbark
SotF: Extra plating -> Reforge -> Sulfuras Smash Foulclaw to death

Munch wrote on 2017-11-05 18:00:06

Legend, Thank you!
I actually failed, but came close 3 times with this strategy.. I wasn't getting anywhere with the others.
I finally got lucky and didn't even need SoTF
Puppies really saved the day in this strat.

Salla wrote on 2017-11-10 15:05:47

i replaced Soul of the Forge with Core Hound Pup, cause SotF just didnt do any dmg.

After Molten Corgi died:
1. core Hound Pup comes in
2. Howl
3. Burrow.
Maybe Burrow works on 2. aswell, but i didnt try and didnt want to take the risk.

Ty for the first Part of the strat :P

Hearte wrote on 2017-11-15 19:25:16

I replaced Soul of the Forge with Cinder Kitten (1,2,1). Basically, same strat until your 3rd pet. With Cinder Kitten, use Leap any time Foulclaw is protected by Crouch, so your Cinder Kitten will have the speed advantage and take less damage from Foulclaw's main attack.

Ectothrix

Rhaom

wrote on 2018-07-07 17:13:40

How are people responding to this saying its working? I have tried this strat 24 times in a row now and Foulclaws shield NEVER wears off at the point the MC is ready to come in... in fact he doesnt even put it on until the round before it dies...

Nika wrote on 2018-09-02 17:34:30

It worked like a charm. Tried other tactics for hour, this worked with 2 fail attempts.

Felindra wrote on 2018-10-03 12:32:21

6 tries, but finally worked, thanks!

sah wrote on 2017-12-17 12:48:55

Best tactics for those who dont have ruby droplet or core hound pup:
Corrupted Blood (1/1/2), Tainted Waveling (-/1/-), Tiny Bog Beast (-/-/2)
1 - Cataclysm (if this misses, restart)
2 - Scorched Earth
3 - Explode; bring in Tainted Waveling
4 - Acidic Goo until Tainted Waveling dies
x - Rampage
(optional: you can use Leap before Rampage)

After much trying, I finally got it with this strategy:

Corrupted Blood 1,1,2
Ominous Flame 2,2,2,
Molten Corgi 1,1,1

1. Enter Corrupted Blood with Scorched earth
2. Cataclysm
3. Explode - Corrupted Blood dies
4. Bring in Ominous Flame - Curse, curse, curse
5. Ominous Flame dies
6. Enter Molten Corgi: Superbark, Bark- Foulclaw dies

It worked all the time!

This works well but if the Cataclysm misses you might as well restart.

Dybb wrote on 2017-12-11 05:35:56

This combination is RNG dependent like some of the others, but the pets it requires are less exotic.
(I don't have a molten corgi).

Ominous Flame 2,2,2
Cinderweb Recluse 1,1,2 (Needs speed greater than 288)
Ruby Droplet 1,1,2

The RNG part comes into play mostly during the first pet.
Round 1: Forboding Curse
Round 2: Scorched Earth
Round 3: Spiritfire Bolt
Round 4: Forboding Curse
Round 5: Forboding Curse
Round 6: Forboding Curse

It is important that your Flame dies on round 6 so that Crouch will not be active on Foulclaw for the next pet. If your Flame dies before or after round 6, it is possible to recover but unlikely.

Enter Ciderweb Recluse
Round 7: Brittle Webbing
Round 8: Paralyzing Venom
Round 9: Skitter
Foulclaw will crouch on round 9, so pass until your spider dies.

Enter Ruby Droplet
You can use Drain Blood to get some HP back while crouch is still active if needed.
When there is 1 round left on Foulclaw's crouch: Dive
Finally, Acid Touch or Drain Blood if there is any health left.

As long as the final pet can mitigate a little damage (healing, buffs, speed changes) and deliver a decent final punch, you should be able to finish off Foulclaw. I was able to use this method with multiple different final pets including:
Stout Alemental
Cinder Kitten
Skunky Alemental (better than Stout)
Pandaren Water Spirit

Bring bandages cuz you'll have to deal with plenty of RNG problems if your luck is anything like mine.
Happy hunting.

Can confirm this works great. I replaced second pet with Molten Corgi(1,1,1) and it went down on second try. Just follow same strat and Molten Corgi do Bark then Superbark then go Puppies while Crouch is up.
Also Drain Blood does work through Crouch.

4. Acidic Goo

Ashton Core
1. Crystal Overload
2. Instability

Core Hound
1. Howl
2. Burrow

After literally 100 times trying multiple strategies this is the one that worked after like 20 restarts. True I didn't have Molten Corgi or Stout Alemental but this was the worst fight of all of Argus. Thank you very much nonetheless.

IllyiaRose wrote on 2017-09-27 15:56:53

Holy crap, this fight is annoying! Here's what worked for me using a combo of strats found in the comments:

Ominous Flame (2.x.2)
Forboding Curse
Spiritfire Bolt
Spiritfire Bolt
Forboding Curse until your Flame dies. (Sounds demotivational, lol)

Cinder Kitten (1.2.1)
Prowl
Claw
Claw - may need to omit second claw and leap instead if Kitten close to dying. (YAY RNG)
Leap - Cinder Kitten dies

Core Hound Pup (2.1.2)
Howl
Burrow - Foulclaw should die here, if not, Thrash to finish him off, but I don't think that your pup can survive after this.

Again, super dependent on how many Flurries Foulclaw gets off. Happy hunting! :)

Should really use cymre's strat.
Stout alemental 2 2 1
core hound pup 2 1 2
soul of the forge 2 1 2

RNG as always but it will work -- Stout alemental must die 3rd round -- cast barrel toss 2x then explosive brew.
core hound pup must live to burrow -- cast howl then burrow
soul cast plating - reforge - then smash to kill

Tigra wrote on 2017-12-24 04:33:53

For those who, on whatever strategy, ends up with less than ~200 or less health and after it switches to last pet and only 1-2 rounds to act but all your pets are too slow/weak to help by now:

try Frigid Frostling with SURGE. It does only 111 damage but it will always hit first.

For me it worked with Omnious Flame + Molten Corgi strategy after many fails on just a few points left.

Another alternative is Surger from firelands pets. Basically any prio move would work, but afaik those who are the only elementals with it.

Laye wrote on 2018-02-12 15:09:40

This guy has got to be the hardest pet to beat on the families basis

Stout Alemental
Core Hound Pup
Soul of the Forge
(This strategy relies on the Alemental dying on the 3rd turn and the Core Hound living long enough to burrow. May need to restart more than once.)

Alemental -
Barrel Toss
Barrel Toss
Explosive Brew
Pass - dies

Core Hound Pup
Howl
Burrow
Thrash
Thrash

Soul of the Forge
Extra Plating
Reforge
Deep Burn

Wow, this one worked really well. I was concerned about Deep Burn being weak against Foulclaw, but it was enough. I wonder if it might be better to use Sulfuras Smash (it's weak against him too), but at least the minimum damage is more than Deep Burn. Deep Burn only does more damage if the target is burning, which he is not (right?)

Ominous Flame 2-2-2

Turn 2: Scourched Earth

I tried this today and it worked. You need rng on your side, but you can actually kill Foulclaw with two pets. With this you don't need Corgi or Ragnaros.

Ominous Flame 2 2 2
Tainted waveling 2 1 1
Tiny bog beast 1 2 2 (I didn't need him) [I don't think the breed matter but mine was H/S]

Flame
Curse --> Earth --> Spitfire bolt --> keep curse up
When it dies, send the Waveling in
Acidic goo --> spit using goo to keep the debuff up

Foulclaw died here for me, but you can use Bog beast with rampage if he's still alive.

I tested this strategy a second time, this time I had to use Bog Beast for the last hit, but it's definitely replicable.

Daedrynn wrote on 2017-09-06 00:56:55

I swapped Tiny Bog Beast for Cinder Kitten (2 2 1) and now this tactic works for me. My Cinder KItten was 292 speed. Follow the tactic above, then when Tainted Waveling dies Cinder Kitten comes in and you use Rend. You should get the first attack in and it will hit twice if you have the right speed. Foulclaw should die.

So, you want:

Ominous Flame 2 2 2
Tainted Waveling 2 1 1
Cinder Kitten 2 2 1

Safia wrote on 2017-09-10 21:08:55

Cinder Kitten option came the closest to working out of any of these. The issue is the boss' debuff that allows for 100% damage reduction, as a result, the closest, I was able to get the boss' health of a 100 or less but I was unable to defeat the boss with this class since all the hits are blocked.

Just as a side note, I discovered that if by the end 2nd pet, the boss is not below 1200 health, you are fighting a loosing battle, just restart the fight.

Thanks for all your hard work on these strats!!!

Eno wrote on 2017-09-24 03:04:23

no variations work. foulclaw just blocks all attacks while his shield is up. not 50% . 100% no attacks hit.

RadiantGlyph wrote on 2017-10-26 12:00:15

Great! Thanks, and double thanks to Artifice for the tweak!
I've been trying to get this fight done for -ages- with no luck, but the Ominous/Tainted/Kitten combo did it for me in one shot.

It appears to have actually been favourable that my Waveling wasn't a speed breed (B/B) and died quickly (got one Goo, one Spit, then dead). Cinder Kitten came in with one round remaining on Curse, so Rend got the first move and finished it off!

I'd say that, given Foulclaw's move order + RNG factor, it may still take a couple of tries to get the timings right. There's really only a round or two's difference between getting that Rend/Leap + Rend in, and having Foulclaw crouch again and dropping the Kitten.

Definitely the most frustrating fight I've had to do so far hahaha... ha.... *sob*

I found one nice strategy against that figth.

Pick:
Droplet of Y'Shaarj (2/2/2)
Molten Corgi (1/1/1)
Ominous Flame (2/2/2)

Start with droplet:
1) Expunge
2) Swallon
3) Pass (if you pet dies after pass - restart - you need to win time to take his shell off)
4) Curse of doom
5) Pass (droplet dies)
Bring Ominous Flame:
1) Forboding Curse
2) Scorched Earth
3) Spiritfire Bolt (he may die in here, thats ok - if not, you will need to use again Forboding Curse and wait his shell go off to start sttacking with molten corgi)
Bring Molten Corgi
1) Superbark
2) Bark

Win

It's not guaranteed, but the easy best way to win.

Works fine. Remember Curse of Doom is the 4th move, just don't play it too early.
RNG can be annoying, but after 5 trys, I killed him.
Thank you.

Tinytoon wrote on 2017-09-11 11:01:13

This works perfectly... if in addition to everything in the instructions, you use the puppies of the flame to wait out the last set of shields he puts up! Thanks for the strategy

Yewfire wrote on 2017-09-12 01:50:15

This strat worked for me 2nd time.
Note: OMINOUS FLAME will come in 2nd, even though MOLTEN CORGI is listed 2nd in the Pick list above.

Man thanks for this! it took some scumming for the first hit to get the most from it (appx 323 dmg) and then I got lucky with a crit and with him only hitting twice instead of three times, but after an hour, this strat saved me from going berserk and killing my neighborhood and keying their cars.

from Chidsuey's strat on WoWhead

Core Hound Pup - 2 1 2
Tiny Bog Beast - X X 2
Crimson Geode - 1 1 X (H/H Breed for extra assurance)

Start with Core Hound Pup
Turn 1 - Burrow
Turn 2 - Burrow goes off
Turn 3 - Howl
Turn 4 - Switch to Tiny Bog Beast
Turn 5 - Rampage
Turn 6/7 - Rampage continues. Dies. (RNG will determine which turn).
Take out Core Hound Pup - NOTE: This is where the RNG comes in. If Foulclaw does two triple attacks, you'll have to start over.
Turn 8 - Thrash
Turn 9 - Howl
Turn 10 - Burrow
Turn 11 - Burrow goes off
Turn 12 - Dies
Take out Crimson Geode
Turn 13 - Crystal Overload
Turn 14 - Feedback
Victory!

Anonymous wrote on 2017-09-17 14:43:12

Nope, everything went flawless and the geode dies every time even with RNG on your side. I have to ignore Crystal Overload and hope he is low enough to get him or his shield isn't up for this strat to work.

Ominous Flame -> Scorched Earth -> Spiritfire Bolt -> Spam Curse until dead
Cinder Kitten -> Rend until dead

I didn't even need a third pet, probably got lucky.

Kamira wrote on 2017-09-14 09:08:11

Kerrchak wrote on 2017-09-17 07:45:12

It has the capability to 2 pet IF your Cinder Kitten triple hits on his attacks. I was not so lucky but I was able to make it work 100% of the time with these minor changes and adding a Core Hound Pup as a 3rd pet.
Ominous Flame -> Spiritfire Bolt -> Spiritfire bolt -> Spam Curse until dead
Cinder Kitten -> Rend until dead (if kitten dies, go to the next pet)
Core Hound Pup -> Howl -> Burrow

The reason you dont use Scorched Earth at the beginning is because it will mess up your Howl in this turn and you will lose the ability to hit through his shield with your Burrow.
Of course there's still the possibility that you will not need to use the Pup if your Kitten finishes off Foulclaw

Swap to Ashstone Core (289 speed or similar elemental pet with Crystal Overload)
Ashstone Core - Crystal Overload

Stout Alemental (2, 1, 2), Core Hound Pup (X, 1, 2), Ruby Droplet (2, 1, 2)
Credit to Itela on Wowhead.

Begin with Stout Alemental.
Turn 1: Barrel Toss
Turn 2: Barrel Toss
Turn 3: Bubble
Cast Inebriate until Stout Alemental dies.

Bring out Core Hound Pup.
Turn 1: Howl
Turn 2: Burrow
When you emerge from Burrow, pass until Core Hound Pup dies.

Bring out Ruby Droplet.
Turn 1: Drain Blood
Turn 2: Dive
When you emerge from Dive, cast Absorb.
If you've been sufficiently lucky by this point, Drain Blood should deal the finishing blow.

dragonheals12 wrote on 2017-09-13 03:33:12

Here's how I finally did it, after many tries. It's luck dependent, I will admit that, but it has a chance. I am too broke for the cinder kitten, and so this is what I beat my head against until it worked.

1 Tainted waveling, 2,1,2 H/H
2 Tiny bog beast, 1,1,2 P/H - this is very important, S/H will not work, not even with thirty or so tries
3 Core hound pup 2,1,2

Tainted waveling first
1 Acidic goo
2 Poison bite
3 Corrosive ooze
4 Acidic goo - if you can't land this, restart and try again.

Bring in your Tiny bog beast

1 Leap - speed up your bog beast for rampage
2 Rampage until your bog beast dies

Bring in your core hound pup
1 Howl
2 Burrow

Hopefully he's dead. It might take a few tries, it certainly took me a couple.

spazmoosifer strat for ruby droplet (my bread is balance power 276 speed 276)

Ominous Flame:

Forboding Curse -> 2x Spiritfire Bolt -> Spam Forboding Curse untill your pet dies.

(if your Ominous Flame died when Foulclaw still had 1 round left on Crouch buff, means u are lucky and u have much bigger chance to defeat him)

Skunky Alemental:

2x Barrel Toss -> Skunky Brew -> spam Inebriate untill your pet dies.

Bring out Ruby Droplet.
Turn 1: Drain Blood
Turn 2: Dive
When you emerge from Dive, cast Absorb.
If you've been sufficiently lucky by this point, Drain Blood should deal the finishing blow.

Adrian wrote on 2017-09-26 13:16:45

Can't make it work, Foulclaw keeps living with sub 100 HP. I have exact same pets as you (power / speed)

Sereus wrote on 2017-09-03 00:56:34

P/P Stout Alemental 2/2/2
H/P Core Hound Pup 2/1/2
P/P Lil'Ragnaros 1/1/2

So, I developed this strategy after many (many) attempts having my final pet swap in at the start of immunity turns and just having to watch it sit there and die. Lil'Ragnaros' Sons of the Flame prevents this and even provides the killing blow at the end. Sons of the Root from Terrible Turnip may also work, however, with Lil' Ragnaros' absurdly high attack he seems to be the better choice to guarantee the kill.

One caveat: just like any other strategy here that uses Core Hound Pup you will have to restart the fight if he dies from being double three-hit.

Begin with Stout Alemental
1: Barrel Toss
2: Barrel Toss
3: Explosive Brew
4: Anything (Stout Alemental dies, Swap to Core Hound Pup)
5: Howl (Explosive Brew hits with the benefit of the Howl buff but does not consume it)
6: Burrow
8: Anything (Core Hound Pup Dies)
9: Sons of the Flame
10:
11:
12: Fanfare

This one works brilliantly, tho there are two conditions that may fail it it seems, both if Skunky survives to 4th round, as well as Core Hound not being able to withstand 2 rounds.
For the 3rd pet there's several options. Lil'Ragnaros isn't a very common pet, but both Ruby Droplet (just use Drain Blood to finish the fight) or Autumnal Sproutling (Nature's Ward, Sons of the Root, Club) does the job.
Even so, best strategy i've seen thus far!

Tiny Bog use Crush, Leap, Rampage and die with 1 round of immunity on Foulclaw left. Kitten use Prowl, Leap, Claw (if he dies before Leap, restart... need 2x 2 hits from Foulclaw but it can happen). Core Pup use Howl, Burrow. Good luck!

This boss was easily one of the most frustrating for the Elemental Escalation Achievement. After having lost count of how many times I reset and almost ready to throw my screen out of the window, I managed to finally down him with Matt's strategy as per below:
Tiny Bog Beast HP breed: crush, leap, rampage. You need to get boss under 1200 health.
Cinder Kitten: prowl and claw (pray that his Flurry only hits you twice on 2 attacks).
Core Hound Pup: howl and burrow.
I guess crits, both for and against me, were in my favor and I never want to see this boss again. Strategy also posted in Hazelnutty's very useful Youtube guides on each boss with the various pet families.

Floppydog wrote on 2017-09-10 20:54:38

I found a strategy that works around 50% of the time. It is NOT very good, and requires some pretty specific pets and breeds, namely H/H Ruby Droplet and H/H Skunky Alemental. The idea is that those two both CAN survive the Flurry ability twice (crits or too many 3x hits will fail this).
Core Hound, Ruby Droplet (H/H), Skunky Alemental(H/H)
Round 1 - Burrow
Round 2 - Burrow lands (IF this doesn't land for 400, restart the fight)
Round 3 - Switch Pet to Skunky Alemental
Round 4 - Barrel Toss
Round 5 - Switch Pet to Ruby Droplet
Round 6 - Drain Blood
Round 7 - Dive
Round 8 - Dive Lands
Round 9 - Switch Pet to Core Hound Pup
Round 10 - Howl
Round 11 - Burrow
Round 12 - Burrow lands
Round 13 - Pass (Core Hound Pup dies, go to Skunky Alemental)
Round 14 - Barrel Toss
In theory this should be a lot more solid than it is, as the luck of Flurry seems to be on Foulclaws side.

Stout Alemental 2,2,x the explosive brew is the change here. Core Hound Pup X,1,2 and Ruby Droplet, or any other elemental with a decent attack. Start with Stout Alemental, Barrel Toss, Barrel Toss, Explosive Brew, Pass and Die. Bring in Corehound, Howl, then Dive. If the dive goes off you win, if not restart. The only way the Core Hound dies is if he gets of 2x 3 hits in a row. The dive will then hit and the barrel will go off, leaving him almost dead. Cleanup with the last pet. Worked 3 out of 5 times in a row for me.

Laeleiweyn wrote on 2017-09-10 07:44:23

Yes, even blocks Explosive Brew, which shouldn't be able to be blocked.

Ryuuken wrote on 2017-09-10 13:05:44

Crouch and the Boss buff reduce all damage taken by 50%.
It's possible that all damage is being reduced by 100%. Which if all damage is absorbed, it shows up as Blocked.

That's my best guess.

EyeSage wrote on 2017-09-10 17:47:15

It doesn't block everything. Stampede, acidic goo and Explode work. Thanks to the people who figured that out Certain attacks work and others don't. It is the dumbest thing ever.

Floppydog wrote on 2017-09-10 20:38:00

Ryuuken is spot on the money. 50% damage reduction from Crouch and 50% from boss makes him take 100% less damage. However, some skills do % of health damage, ignoring all damage reduction (Explode, Drain Blood). And skills that cause shattered defense or in other ways increase damage taken will naturally take his incoming damage above zero percent again. This fight is bloody hard with elementals....

Corrupted Blood 2/2/2
Core Hound Pup 2/1/2

R1 Heat UP
R2 Acid Touch
R3 Explode
R4 Core Hound UP (IF DIES RESTART) - Howl
R5 Burrow
R6 Ashstone Core UP - RNG Factor - Instability (If miss Restart)
-End-

Ryuuken wrote on 2017-09-10 13:42:31

So I had a perfect run one try, where Instability hit.
There was a problem. It left Foulclaw with 35 health left, because it only does 315 due to the Boss buff.

Best case scenario (which I got minutes before posting this), Foulclaw hits Blood with a 3 hit Flurry while Heat Up is active. If this happens, and every thing up to Ashstone coming into play works out, Foulclaw should have 300 health. Instability hits for 315, you're good.

If Foulclaw only hits Blood with a 2 hit Flurry, and everything else goes right, Foulclaw ends up with 350 health and Instability will only drop him to 35 left like above.

If the 2 hit route happens, you have to hope for lucky crits on your end on top of hoping Instability hits.

Ominous Flame 1/x/2
Skunky Alemental 2/2/1
(must be H/S breed, or you are 1 speed slower than Foulclaw and probably won't work)
Tiny Bog beast x/2/2 (mine was HH)

x=whatever

(if your Skunky Alemental died when Foulclaw still had 2 rounds left on Crouch buff, means u are pretty much fcked >.<)

Tiny Bog Beast:

Leap (untill you think that Rampage gonna finish him) -> Rampage

(Should be 2 x Leap then Rampage)

* IT WILL NOT WORK EVERYTIME, BECAUSE OF ENEMY PET FLURRY ABILITY RNG *

But after trying bilion combos it was first strategy that finally worked for me ^^

The only reason why i managed to beat this OP pet, was because of Ominous Flame's Forboding Curse i believe...

Which makes your first 2 pets faster than Foulclaw.

Something is seriously not quite right with this pet's design... (at least vs elementals)

MAY THE RNG BE WITH YOU!!

Typing out the strat for those that hate wowhead like me. Remember, it isn't mine.
Stout Alemental (2,1,2) Barrel Toss, Barrel Toss, Bubble, Inebriate until Alemental is dead (don't try anything else, this is what helps the RNG for Hound to get to rnd 2 to go off)
Core Hound Pup (?,1,2) Howl, Burrow, pass until Hound dies
Ruby Droplet (2,1,2) Drain Blood, Dive, Absorb, Drain Blood

edit: after about 25 fights he never even once misses one of his attacks. Pretty sure he doesn't get the -25%
edit2: took me about 50 tries till the RNG was nice enough to let me win. If he hits your Ruby Droplet with a triple attack only once you can reset the fight. You NEED to have 3x dual attack or it's game over.

I attempted this fight no fewer than 100 times with the assortment of suggested battle pets. (I don't have Stout but do have Skunky). I could get Foulclaw down to as low as 55hp but he'd always end up taking out my Ruby Droplet, due to his current immunity when using crouch. I happen to have a Nightmare Lasher (from the Dreamgrove). Its second tier third ability is Cataclysm, which hits 50 percent of the time. I switched out Skunky for the Nightmare lasher using 2-1-2 and got the ability to land in in the second battle for 547, then followed with a Nightmare for 304. The remaining fight with the Core Hound (howl/burrow) and Ruby Droplet (Drain Blood, Dive, Absorb) went smoothly and finally took this frustrating pet down. The Nightmare Lasher may be an unusual pet to have since it's not tradeable, so this may be a limited strategy option for those without high-level druids. There are other battle pets with the Cataclysm ability but they are also fairly challenging to get. (Corrupted Blood and Unstable Tendril might be found on the auction house.)

Took about 40 attempts with an H/H Ruby Droplet.

This worked second try. First time my Core Hound was killed before I could Burrow.

stout alemental (2, 2, 2) 1 1 3 2 pass
ruby droplet (2, 1, 2) 3 2 1 3 pass till dead
tiny bog beast (1, 2, 2) 3 3 3 should die
done these twice now worked both times for any1 without corupted blood or corehound

not sure why it ain't workin for u guys maybe the pet build stats

It worked for me took 3 times. Sometimes the drainblood misses from Ruby Droplet... My Droplet is a H/P breed and my Tiny Bog was a H/H bread... Stout only comes in P/P breed. Hope this helps.. Thanks for the strat Maladroa

I didn't have a Stout Alemental nor a Core Hound Pup and was really struggeling but managed to find a "workable" solution.
Unfortunately you are still dealing with a lot of RNG but for anyone who like me does not have easy access to the Core Hound this might be a doable alternative until someone can think up something better ;)

1. Corrupted Blood (1,2,2)
2. Ruby Droplet (2,1,2)
3. Nightmare Lasher (1,1,2)

Heat Up => Cataclysm (if you miss, restart) => pass => Explode (if you get killed before, restart) => send in Ruby Droplet
Drain Blood => Dive => Absorb => Drain Blood => Absorb => Absorb (you will die here, if you die before and the counter on Foulclaw's Crouch buff is not 1 afterwards, restart) => send in Nightmare Lasher
Foulclaw should have 1 turn left of his Crouch buff and should be somewhere around 300-200 HP left. If he is over 365 HP you will need a crit (though if you got this far he should be lower).
pass => Cataclysm win :D if you got really lucky with RNG earlier and Foulclaw has 203 or less HP left then you can use Nightmare instead of Cataclysm avoiding at least one more RNG factor.

I really hope someone can come up with something better/easier/less rng riddled but for us poor folks with limited pet options this is at least a solution that will work. Good luck!
