At least one of the pets for this strategy require the use of a specific breed.
Not every strategy can be bullet proof. This is one of them. You might have to restart it, since there are some random elements that increase the risk of your pets failing. Don't blame them, please!
This strategy is using pets obtainable from the Wow Trading Card Game (TCG) or the auction house for potentially high sums of gold.
This strategy is using pets obtainable only from the WoW In-Game Shop for Battle.net Balance or real money.
Level 5+
You can use this strategy to carry a low level pet to give it experience.
Some instructions are more difficult to follow than others. That's exactly what you might find in this strategy!
Script
The strategy offers a Script that can be used with the Pet Battle Script addon. You can copy the script by clicking on the button to the left of the pets.
At least one pet in the strategy cannot be obtained anymore. If you have it, congrats!
A Strategy Curator found this strategy to be especially helpful and higlighted it with this tag to give it more exposure.

I couldn't get this to work; never quite got the last pet down.
I used 2 Lil'Blings instead. Inflation and Make it Rain were great, especially when Lightning Storm was up. Blingtron Gift Package was a big help; when it hit it always crit (being strong against Flying) and when it missed the amount it healed Bling seemed to crit, too.
I guess I was really lucky

Ty wrote on 2021-02-28 14:21:57

This is a little RNG but very fast 90%+ if you are multi-stunned I just start over, you can't avoid the first stun. Use any (pet 5+) first slot, then swap to your Nexus Whelp (x2), so two nexus whelps are backups, using moves - , 2 , 2. Just Arcane Storm on cool down and use Mana Surge. The arcane storm does backline damage even when the opponent is in cocoon.

No idea if anyone else here has figured it out or not, i'm sure some have, and i've uploaded on suggested teams, but if you have 2 x Stormborne Whelplings, it can be Stormborne Whelpling in slot 1/3 w/ 1/2/2 and a level 1 in slot 2.
Turn 1: Pass (stunned)
Turn: 2 Arcane Storm
Turn 3-5: Mana Surge
Turn 6: Arc Storm (Stormborne usually dies but if not let him die next round and skip to Mana surge on Stormborne in slot 3 after the level pet swap)
Swap to level pet
Turn x: Swap to Stormborne in slot 3
Turn x+1: If weather not Arcane Storm use Arcane storm, if already Arcane Storm use Mana Surge, done

Lost all my Battle Pet Strats when I had to reinstall the game, so looking through this while leveling I saw your strat and thought I'd try it - worked like a charm! Short, sweet and to the point! Also love that level pet can be 1+. Thanks!

Malachi wrote on 2020-03-15 14:52:47

Two comments on a nice strat:

1. If the level pet is a critter, don't pass. Use an attack since critters can't be stunned; and
2. The pet in slot 3 can seriously be anything that's lvl 25. Why a Pandaren Water Spirit? I doesn't do added damage and does have reduced damage...

Sazandora

wrote on 2019-04-15 17:21:40

I use an Ageless Bronze Drake in the last slot instead of a Water Spirit, but otherwise I've never had this strat fail on me. Thank you!

Not that it really matters as your final pet is just clean up but, I don't understand why the Pandaren Water Spirit. I substituted Bronze Whelpling. Tough and Strong vs fliers.

Been having problems with this strat so here is what I did to make it faster by a few rounds:

Pass the first round
Swap to your clockwork gnome and build a turret
Metal fist (this will be interrupted)
Repair
Build a turret
Metal Fist
Metal Fist
Build a turret - Serendipity should die but not always
Grace comes in
Metal Fist - Grace will cast Lightning
Metal Fist
You will prob die here and hopefully so will Grace - If your Clockwork Gnome survived, build another turret and keep using Metal Fist until it dies.
Bring in Fragment of Anger
Cast [Spirit Spikes]
If Grace is dead Atonement will die now too
If not use Spiritfire Bolt till fight is won.

xp level 1
Sprite Darter Hatchling (2-1-1) or Nether Faerie Dragon S/S (2-1-1)
xp 2 any level w/ 49 or better damage on flyer and over 467 Health

vs Serendipity
xp 1 att - stunned
Swap
SDH > Eva, AB, AB, AB (Serendipity dies)

vs Grace
SDH > MF, AB, EV, AB (Grace dies - *Stun or death = reset)

vs Atonement
SDH >
AB, AB (Sprite dies)
XP 2 > do more than 48 damage while taking 467 damage

*Crits and Stuns (25%) will ruin this strat and you'll have to restart or be okay with only XP1 recieving xp. But the upside is a lot of xp for 2 pets when it works.
**I am not the originator for this Strat - but I thank them for it.

"Your level pet will get all the EXP for being the last pet alive on your team."

I've seen this said in a few different comments and had to chime in to say I haven't noticed pets getting any extra XP for being the last pet alive. Of course, I usually only do the pet battles during the bonus week when XP is tripled, but still. Whether they're the last one alive or not, I see the same numbers. Roughly 11,000 -12,000 per tamer.

Now, I do seem to recall that in the early days of MoP when battles were introduced, there was a thing where XP got split between all pets on the team, even the max level ones. If that were true, I think it got changed years ago so that XP is only split between pets that aren't max level. Since I never put more than one leveling pet on a team, I don't really know.

Hey! You're right the amount of EXP is a definite amount for each trainer and level 25 pets do not take it away. The advantage of these "explode" strategies is a different one: you do not need to bring the small pet(s) into the active slot. It's often one or even two rounds saved which saves time, and limits the risk of the level pets taking direct damage, and therefore it's often a superior strategy :-)

Thanks so much for this help. I was struggling here.

Kakjens wrote on 2016-11-14 19:52:20

With above-mentioned strategy I remember the Clockwork Gnome getting interrupted on approximately round 8.
With this slight modification it didn't happen:
Turn 5 Metal Fist
Turn 6 Build Turret
Turn 7-8 Repair
Turn 9 Build Turret

Kakjens wrote on 2016-11-15 12:39:31

Oops, different strategies, similar pets.
Nevertheless, Repair is turns 5-7, so further turns have wrong number. Why not Pass in turn 4?

Quasi wrote on 2016-10-13 01:57:12

I use two nexus whelplings and a level pet. Start with the leveling pet, it will get stunned and then switch to one of the nexus whelplings. Do arcane storm then mana surge. First nexus will die, just bring in the second and arcane storm if needed otherwise mana surge.

Evil wrote on 2016-11-13 12:39:14

I am doing exactly the same since ages :)

Just pet has to be mech or magical, or with enough HP to survive 1st attack.

Works everytime.

PS: best to have two Nexus Whelps P/S cause then they attack 1st when moths drop below 50% HP.

Argent wrote on 2016-11-07 21:44:47

I've been bring level 1 pets to this fight for ages, but with a slightly different strategy.

Pets: Clockwork Gnome (111), Nexus Whelpling (?22), and any level pet. Though I am pretty sure any pet with Mana Surge will do instead of the Whelpling.

1: Pass
2: Build Turret
3-4: Repair
5+: Build Turret on cooldown, Metal Fist otherwise. Don't Repair.
If your Clockwork Gnome dies to Grace, bring your leveling pet (on the same round), then immediately swap to the Nexus Whelpling. Arcane Storm + Mana Surge should finish the fight.
If your Clockwork Gnome kills Grace, swap to your leveling pet when Atonement comes out (it will cast Nimbus first round, so your pet is safe). Bring your Whelpling next and just Arcane Storm + Mana Surge.

So I was thinking....why not use darkmoon tonk here instead of the water spirit to "mop up" and explode giving the level pet all the exp?

That's actually a really cool idea. I tried, but if you don't start with the level pet and swap, somehow the rotation doesn't work anymore and the Clockwork Gnome can't get his heal through :/ The strat works pretty well like it is so I'm keeping it for now. Thanks though!

Scott Wolf wrote on 2016-10-28 15:05:36

The Darkmoon Tonk Dose not have an ability called or one that explodes. So it wouldn't work anyway!

TThe [Mechanical Pandaren Dragonling] and the [Darkmoon Zeppelin] Do have this ability though.

Saryas wrote on 2016-05-12 02:01:55

Today I tried the clock gnome strat but with a lvl 22 arcane eye as a third pet and it worked like a charm so you can basically level 2 pets :P

Saryas wrote on 2016-05-18 01:30:05

I can confirm you can use any level 22 pet as the third pet. the clock gnome can almost solo this fight :) today i tried with a lvl 22 flayer youngling

Zaymaa wrote on 2016-07-30 03:19:13

No, it doesn't. Just tried it with a 22 Lil Bad Wolf and it killed him AND my level 1. Back to start.

It is RNG dependent :(

Hey! A level 1 pet is not advisable here, it should have at least a few hundred health points. The strategy as it is shown should be 100% reliable though. If you bring a level 22something pet instead of the water spirit - that can work, but it is a bit risky then.

flownzu wrote on 2015-12-15 14:51:42

The best Strategy I found for her was using Chrominius/Nexus Whelpling (has to be P/S Breed otherwise it won't outspeed!). The third can be a level 1 Pet doesn't matter since it doesn't take any damage.

Strategy:
Spam Arcane Explosion with Chrom until he dies, switch to level Pet and immediately switch to Nexus Whelpling. Then use Arcane Storm which knocks all the Moths below 50% making you faster so you can just use Mana Surge and kill all 3 of them.

Worked 100% of the time for me, try it and tell me what you think!

Hey Flownzu! Tried it out and it works flawlessly. The only downside really is the specific breed requirement. I usually try to stay away from those. It is a brilliant leveling strategy though and very fast as well, so it deserves a place here :-)

Two of my comments, including one here, were not shown - I presume because I included a link to source.

The thread from which I took them was on the US Pet Battles forum, Aug 9th, titled "Every Single Draenor Grandmaster". The post was number 8, from Leucen at Thrall. About Taralune he said:

"For Teralune level 4 or 5 should be fine

I use P/P Nexus Whelp and Royal Peachick for Teralune. I hate Teralune. Start with carry, it gets stunned, switch to Nexus. Use Arcane Storm then Mana Surge. Nexus will die to Call Lightning. Use Arcane Storm with Peachick then use Rain Dance to heal. Then spam Quills and use Arcane Storm when you can. Good luck."

I actually used a P/P and P/S Nexus Whelpling without trouble.

I tested the Nexus Whelpling + Nether Faerie Dragon and it is very RNG based and only worked a couple of times, so I'm not going to include it here. The Royal Peachick I shamefully have to admit I still need to acquire, then I'm going to test the strategy with it :-)

I tested the strategy with the Royal Peachick and it had a rather high risk of failing. The reason is not different breeds. Any Nexus Whelpling will always kill Serendipity. The problem is with Quills and Slicing Wind being very unpredictable, if they hit 1, 2 or 3 times. Combined with the flyer perk at 50%, it is just too unreliable at what point Grace, or the Peachick, will lose the speed advantage.
I’m therefore not including the strat here as it is simply too unreliable.

Woo-hoo! Pet Event has encouraged me to find a way to level my carry pet.
It wasn't as easy as a fight without a carry, oh no!
In fact, almost all situations I can find too random because of the moths' abilities themselves.

After these dozen or so attempts, this is what I've done it (and boosted my carry from 1 to 17, meheh).
I don't guarantee anything, but I still think that it can, at least, give you a direction. =)

Pets:
Lil' Bling: Inflation, Extra Plating, Launch Rocket
Lil' Tarecgosa: Arcane Blast, Surge of Power, Arcane Storm

1. Passed.
2. Extra Plating
3. Launch Rocket
4-6. Inflation
7. Passed.
8. Launch Rocket – Serendipity died.
9-10. Failsafe triggered, put Inflation again. Of course, Bling was off then.
11. Arcane Storm
12. Arcane Blast – Grace died.
13. That lucky number allowed me to swap to a carry.
14. Swapped back.
15. Arcane Storm
16. Surge of Power – THE. END.

Again from http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/18301008958#8 below. I didn't do that, exactly, I used a P/S and a P/P Nexus Whelpling and a level 10 carry (tho I think a level 8 would have survived). Start with Carry. Pass. Swap in the first Whelp and do what you would expect. Swap in the second and repeat.

Good luck.

Nether Faerie Dragon + Nexus Whelpling

I'm convinced that two Nexus Whelplings can surely deal with both Taralune and Vesharr (in the draenei case, one has to be P/S and used at the end). But I'm not sure yet how to include a leveling pet here.

This worked perfectly for me today. And that's more pets-in-a-day than I've done in a long time!
