Substitutes:

1
Note: You have selected a substitute pet.
The strategy might fail if you use it with this pet instead of the one the strategy creator intended.

The substitute finder looks for these criteria in relation to the original pet:
  • Same family
  • Has the required skills
  • Has the required stats (if specified)
  • Ignores specific breed requirements for the main pet, as breeds can be very different for substitutes

1 / 2

1

Be prepared to repeat the fight, mostly when Bone Barrage never misses Son of Sethe or critically hits.

The strategy relies on Son of Sethe surviving long enough to kill 1st enemy and get 2nd low enough so Squirrels only need 2 rounds of Stampede to trigger Corpse Explosion at 30% Health and then prepare the last enemy pet for a one-shot Ghostly Bite. I suggest H/P Infected Squirrel for slightly more HP.

(~23 rounds)

Low XP
At least one of the pets for this strategy require the use of a specific breed.
RNG
Not every strategy can be bullet proof. This is one of them. You might have to restart it, since there are some random elements that increase the risk of your pets failing. Don't blame them, please!
This strategy is using pets obtainable from the Wow Trading Card Game (TCG) or the auction house for potentially high sums of gold.
This strategy is using pets obtainable only from the WoW In-Game Shop for Battle.net Balance or real money.
You can use this strategy to carry a low level pet to give it experience.
Some instructions are more difficult to follow than others. That's exactly what you might find in this strategy!
Script
The strategy offers a Script that can be used with the Pet Battle Script addon. You can copy the script by clicking on the button to the left of the pets.
At least one pet in the strategy cannot be obtained anymore. If you have it, congrats!
A Strategy Curator found this strategy to be especially helpful and higlighted it with this tag to give it more exposure.

Definitely a downvote. My son of sethe doesnt even LIVE past the 1st pet. I have tried numerous times and you have to REALLY rely on god tier luck. This is the most deserving of the RNG tag I have ever seen.

(OP) Lazey

wrote on 2023-05-12 13:09:26

I don't care about these ratings a lot. Usually, they are a better indicator for working strategies than the number of "hearts", but...

Do you go through all alternate strategies and downvote every single one that didn't work for you or is it just about those who looked "most promising" for whatever reason (I guess it's about the number of people who made it their favourite here) but soon ended up in "most disappointing"?
And then you feel the need to "punish" the creator/strategy instead of going over to the next one? The RNG is mentioned in the creator's info... honestly, would your reaction be different just because of an existing "RNG" tag?

wrote on 2023-03-31 19:00:10

Ghastly Kid absolutely got stunned when I did this before Arcane Storm, so between that and Mana Surge I didn't have a chance to get anything off after ghostly bite before dying. Got it on the second try, but the RNG can definitely be a struggle.

Alayea

wrote on 2022-12-25 23:41:51

I had no issues with the strategy, though I do recommend including an RNG tag as was suggested by an older comment.

wrote on 2022-12-19 04:13:44

My Ghastly Kid just couldn't outlast the Third Leftover so I swapped it with a Spectral Spinner P/B. Bite, Blind for the mana surges, and a crit with Spectral Strike caused #3 to die first. Still RNG, though.. (edited)

Cosimo

wrote on 2022-05-23 19:24:10

The solution to the RNG on this is to save your Touch of the Anima once you start the second Leftovers until you enter undead phase on Son of Sethe, then your squirrel will live long enough to get the last Leftovers to around 500 hp. Only RNG after that is not getting crit and hit on every dmg from first pet on your Son of Sethe.

Tried 5 times w/ out holding touch of the anima and my Ghastly Kid would never be able to kill last pet in time would die undead phase w/ his last left overs.

I don't have Ghastly Kid so I failed first attempt using Fragment of Anger. 2nd attempt I aced it. Son of Sethe made it to middle of 2nd enemy pet with a crit heal. For third pet I used Frostwolf Ghostpup. Killed 3rd enemy pet with Ghostly Bite and because of the speed, I used Refuge and survived the undead phase. And I got crit by 3rd enemy pet.

Locopoco

wrote on 2022-09-19 22:15:02

Son of sethe rarely gets to 2nd round and will never get it low enough for Squirrel to kill

Managed to get it to win everytime, by using Drain blood on CD rather then waiting until 10% (edited)

Five attempts, then finally Son of Sethe survived long enough to get it done :)

(OP) Lazey

wrote on 2022-05-27 17:40:53

Starting with Turn 1 for each active pet here so "Turn 1+" felt kinda clear to me, especially combined with the following "Ghastly Kid comes in" (last pet comes in when all others are dead) instead of a "Bring in your Ghastly Kid" (swap it manually). But yeah, this should be easy ;-)

ManaStrudel

I had an absolute heck of a time getting this to work. Like many of you, my SoS barely lasted thru the first enemy. Finally after 4 tries it worked perfectly. So, yes it does work, but can be shaky RNG. I found on my successful try I was able to have a Drain available for my 1st hit on 2nd pet, and it fills you up to full health. That helped tremendously.

PhD wrote on 2021-06-30 19:11:37

it was hard to keep son of sethe alive past the 1st boss. once it did having a P/B squirrel didn't matter. i did use drain blood on CD no matter the target hp.

ApolloGiant#1378

If you don't have ghastly kid you can use Fragment of Desire since it also has enough damage with Soulrush to undead phase the last leftovers (possibly stunning it but it did not on my run) and then use Soul Ward to block undead phase ability and not even get sent to undead phase yourself.

Khes

wrote on 2021-01-16 01:41:14

you should only be draining blood if you need the HP, absorb does more damage. Generally this is the turn right after Touch of the Animus drops (4), and the first turn of the hand (#2 Leftovers). you will get #2 a lot lower and have a much better chance of finishing the fight. (edited)

wrote on 2020-12-27 08:07:02

Strat just doen't works as last enemy pet hits too hard and then enters an undead phase. The last pet we use should have at least 2 avoidances up. There's absolutely no way to make Sethe survive even the undead phase. Btw, why is the bone rain hitting at 151 per stack (so 600 damage on the first turn), when it is supposed to hit at 50?

Out of ten tries, the best I managed to do is having Sethe dying at the same time as the first enemy pet.

Final edit: ok, managed to win at the 17th fu...g time. First enemy pet MUST miss the first salvo (4 misses) or bone barrage. Then, last enemy pet MUST NOT crit at all AND your pet MUST CRIT on ghostly bite. If a single of those requirements fail, start again.

Cheers (edited)

First try and easily done! I really loved this strat. The only thing I did, is Drain Blood on CD, then the Touch on CD and Absorb as a filler. I almost worked through the first two and my Squirrel did a good job with Stampede. Ghastly Kid did his biting and went Ethereal in the undead round.... P E R F E C T !!

Worked well 1st try

Do not wait till 10% to use drain blood it needs to be used in the prio rotation. Was the only way the strat worked for me. 8 fails then win after doing this. (edited)

Nice tip, thank you. I didn't wait on Drain Blood and it worked first time.

Why were you waiting? It says to use it if enemy pet has more than 10% health. So you should be using it in rotation.

I didn't have the patience to make this work. If your Sethe doesn't survive the curse of doom from leftover #2, I would retreat. This likely requires at least 2 misses from Bone Barrage. And if he absorbs some crits, it still might not be enough. Ghostly Bite from Ghastly Kid does 840 damage on leftover #3 if it has the stampede debuff. If he has more than 840 health when Kid comes in, you probably aren't going to win. Good luck!

Took me two attempts but this strat works. :)

Great strat! Worked 1st try. (edited)

Tiwack wrote on 2020-12-14 16:44:16

Works if you can get sethe to survive the first pet, some rng, 4 attempts.

same here, took three attempts but worked!

Is this fight nerfed? I succesfully tried this strat in one go the first time it was available, but it's a miracle now if I can get past the first Leftover.. 8 times in a row.. Casting Drain Blood on cd works, but still wiped a few times before beating him.

Try using Drain Blood before 10%. It helps to keep Sethe alive. Also throw Creeping fungus on last Leftover before stampede if you can (edited)

Worked second try. Did not one shot the last enemy with Ghostly Bite, but finished it with Hoof x1

Worked great for me on the first try. Sethe had enough HP and damage to get the second enemy pet down below its threshold to do Corpse Explosion so all my squirrel had to do was survive that hit, the undead round, and then start getting Shattered Defenses up on the final enemy pet.

Worked beautifully. The priorities are a little confusing - seems like you should drain blood sometimes even when it's not at 10%, but overall great.

FoxyLoxy wrote on 2020-12-10 20:58:13

As soon as I started popping that Drain Blood on CD (even on Undead level) worked like a charm! Solid strat thanks!

Too much RNG with Sethe surviving past the first pet. The only way I could past first pet was to Drain Blood on cool down. Once I did that, the strat worked just fine.

DTJames

That did the trick, turned RNG into Solid strat. Just pop Drain Blood right off the bat and keep it down.

Alordatron wrote on 2020-12-07 15:53:53

I was able to do it on the first try

I got it on the third try, but I also drained blood on turn 2 instead of waiting for turn 3.

This. Switching to Drain Blood on cooldown got it to work.

Changed first Drain Blood to Round 2 by popular demand, but still not sure about using it on CD. The Heal will be 30% of enemy's MaxHP no matter how low the enemy dropped, but I want that 10% MaxHP as damage to do something for me. (I mean in fact I use it on CD, because now I don't have Drain Blood ready when first pet is at that margin *g*) (edited)

Blahsta wrote on 2020-12-04 20:06:39

Worked 2nd try for me. Bone Barrage kept hitting 100% of the time plus another move crit my first try. If BB hits ~80% and no crits strat works perfectly.

Elfizm wrote on 2020-12-01 22:18:28

I couldn't get this to work after 6 goes even with using Drain Blood on turn 2. It's difficult to figure out where the weakness is with just a priority strat and no indication of when the opposing team pets are supposed to enter the fight. I'll keep trying, clearly RNG involved.

Telandrylia

wrote on 2020-12-01 22:08:34

there's some RNG here, if your Son of Sethe doesn't kill the first guy give up and try again.

Daineiara#2565

wrote on 2020-11-27 04:57:22

This one seems a bit of a Hail Mary strat. After 15 restarts with my Sethe never getting the first enemy pet down before its own undead round, I can only suspect that things changed between beta and live.

Asarkhadon wrote on 2020-12-01 19:06:48

Use drain blood on turn 2, not absorb

Zeitlos#1455

wrote on 2020-11-29 20:12:17

Needs a big RNG tag on live. Either had Sethe die too soon, or Bite wasn't enough for the final pet. On my fourth attempt, was able to get Sethe to take out the first pet and some of the second. Wasn't confident the squirrel would get pet 3 low enough, so threw a mushroom in there before Stampede and got it to work.

Failed badly 1st try Son died before 1st enemy then fight ended with eyeball at full health. Worked great on the 2nd try
