Substitutes:

Note: You have selected a substitute pet.
The strategy might fail if you use it with this pet instead of the one the strategy creator intended.

The substitute finder looks for these criteria in relation to the original pet:
  • Same family
  • Has the required skills
  • Has the required stats (if specified)
  • Ignores specific breed requirements for the main pet, as breeds can be very different for substitutes

Low XP
At least one of the pets for this strategy require the use of a specific breed.
Not every strategy can be bullet proof. This is one of them. You might have to restart it, since there are some random elements that increase the risk of your pets failing. Don't blame them, please!
This strategy is using pets obtainable from the Wow Trading Card Game (TCG) or the auction house for potentially high sums of gold.
This strategy is using pets obtainable only from the WoW In-Game Shop for Battle.net Balance or real money.
You can use this strategy to carry a low level pet to give it experience.
Some instructions are more difficult to follow than others. That's exactly what you might find in this strategy!
Script
The strategy offers a Script that can be used with the Pet Battle Script addon. You can copy the script by clicking on the button to the left of the pets.
At least one pet in the strategy cannot be obtained anymore. If you have it, congrats!
A Strategy Curator found this strategy to be especially helpful and higlighted it with this tag to give it more exposure.
In Dragonflight Patch 10.2, the ability Time Bomb has been changed. This tag is marking strategies using Time Bomb so they can be reviewed.

still works like a charm as of 10.2.5

I used the following script to add lower level pets. I recommend at least 900hp, 1000 to be secure:

use(Sandstorm:453)
use(Deflection:490)
change(#2) [!self(#2).played]
change(#3) [!self(#3).played]
use(Crush:406)
change(Anubisath Idol:1155)

This works very well but if he for some reason crits you a few times you'll die. The odds of that happening are really slim however but something to keep in mind.

Still works as of Pre-Patch 9.0, script does as well too. Fight hasn't changed at all. If you don't wanna sacrifice a random pet, Critters take less damage from his Pound, I found my highest HP pet that I don't use often is Experimental Cockroach with over 1800hp.

JudyBlue wrote on 2020-06-22 18:34:26

I just used Unborn Valk with Ikky and bobs your uncle easy kill.

You're better off using Stoneskin as opposed to Sandstorm.

Anonymous wrote on 2020-05-23 20:19:42

Why? Sandstorm gives an additional 10% chance to miss, and the boss dies after 10 turns so it doesn't matter what you do to him. Strat is perfect as is.

Hampen wrote on 2017-08-12 07:24:32

Here is a script for Anubisath Idol that worked, obviously you don't need it, but I wrote it anyway, because its still nice to only press one button. :) It will use Deflection on cooldown and then use sandstorm if it's available, otherwise it will pass. It's my first script, but for me it works without any problems. :)

works great, and your not the only one who like one button

You absolutely DO need a script even for this fight. Because pressing three buttons is absurd.

Vert wrote on 2017-11-13 07:27:07

You can also do with with any rabbit/hare/bunny rotating Dodge and Burrow then passing until they come off CD.

I used a H/S Gleamhoof Fawn and 2 Rabbits (because woodland critters) but anything with Tranquility would work. I have a script for it as well, so it will cast Tranquility, pass the turn when the Tranquility buff is up, and recast it when it falls off, and then rinse and repeat until Rocko's demise.

Elekk Plushie - solos this as long as you use cute as a button, which increases dodge by 25%. All it has to do is survive until 10 rounds are over - it always does.

eKatherine wrote on 2017-08-03 11:41:03

I use a team of 3 elekk plushies, 2 of them leveling pets. It's pretty hilarious.

Kathleene wrote on 2017-10-05 14:15:02

Great ideas! I especially like the three Plushies strategy. I'm gonna have to try it. I always have lots of Plushies about, and they just love a chance to strut their stuff.

Aryel wrote on 2016-12-26 18:34:03

If you don't want to do anything in this battle, put the Elekk Plushie at the head of your team and any critter on the backline. Critters take less damage from Rokco's Pound. Just pass for 10 turns. Elekk Plushie will die at the very end and your critter will still be alive for an easy win.

Kathleene wrote on 2017-10-05 14:12:38

What a great idea! I love battling with a Plushie along, and this is a perfect opportunity to do just that. Thanks for the suggestion.

Solo'd with Teroclaw Hatchling (2,2,2) Kept Nature's Ward up, Dodged when available. Passed on all the other turns to speed things up.

Pure Armour wrote on 2017-04-24 03:47:38

any 3 rabbits work also ... Rabbit 1 just Dodge, then Burrow switch Rabbit 2 just Dodge, then Burrow switch Rabbit 3 just Dodge, then Burrow switch

Anonymous wrote on 2016-11-25 16:05:22

if you have the falcosaur quest to do this with two undead pets, i was able to do it with a scourged whelping and unborn val'kyr. Really they just sat there and ate the damage. I think any two undead might work because they have the rez.

Mo wrote on 2017-02-09 07:28:10

Thanks to your post I ended up trying with Fragment of Desire, only using Soul Ward and Soothe when available. Fragment managed alone, although in the final Undead round, but with a backup Undead it should be no problem at all.
